The Audition- wonderful world of Dissosia

The auditions

Today were the auditions for our new project, contemporary theatre piece, Wonderful world of Dissocia. I have been preparing for this day for a week now and have learnt my script off by heart and done some research in to the play and the characters involved.
I learnt to casting script that is a part spoken by Lisa, the play follows her story through her experiences of loosing an hour of her life and her quest to re gain this hour. The extract of the script spoken by Lisa I learnt for the audition was a paragraph of her speaking about how the discovery of this lost hour actually makes perfect sense to her current life situation and probelms. It sees her becoming emotional as she speaks as everything starts to fit in to place about how she has been feeling recently. This is the extract.

In the audition, I acted this part in a way in which Lisa was realising now how much the missing hour makes sense and fits in to her life. I spoke it with the emotion of surprise, understanding and realisation.
After I had done this, I was asked to speak a small part of the extract with an angry tone and a sarcastic tone.
I personally found it challenging to perform the angry tone as I turned this anger in to upset anger by accident. This was something that my improvisational skills naturally did however when I was asked to do it again, this time like I was going to punch someone, I did and it worked so much better than the first time. Looking back in this, the fact Rachel gave me an example of the anger the second time, I understood this more and it helped me to perfect this emotion.
However, the sarcastic tone, I found easier. I spoke like I was talking to someone who was naive and was perhaps either younger or unaware if such concepts of loosing an hour.
