The routine uses quick movements to create the same effect that the choreography in the musical does, up beat and dramatic. This resulted in some of the movements being difficult to perform in a short space of time. Some of these movements were also challenging in general however would look amazing if we could pull them off. Therefore, Emily took her time in teaching this choreography to us, she went through a certain part which involved lifted your opposite arm to leg up at the same time and doing this repeatedly y for several counts, each in one count. This was difficult at first when we were learning it because you have to use your co ordination to make the movement look professional. It really helped me and everyone that Emily spend so much time working out this move and going through it with us. She was patient and understanding in this process which is a good asset in a dance teacher.
We were put in to partners that we will have to perform this piece with as a duet in the February show case. I am with Livvi. On part me and Livvi had to work on especially hard was the hand jive part of the dance. Because we were so used to clapping individually, when we were told we had to clap in our partners, we just couldn't seem to break the habit. We spend a good 5 minutes working together to perfect this part of the dance, which we did in the end.
My favourite part of this dance is the genre and how Emily has combine different parts of our devised pieces from last lesson, in to one big routine full of kicks and flicks which all come together to create a great piece of dance.
