Performance Evaluation- Wednesday 4.30 and 7.30 // Thursday 4.30 and7.30

Wednesday 4.30

This was our very first performance of In to the Woods. Everyone was nervous however we managed to turn these nerves in to energy which we used to create a brilliant first performance.
I felt that this performance for me, wen better than i was expecting. I was apprehensive that I would either not feel confident enough to project my solo to the audience or that i would forget one of my entrances or exits. Luckily, I actually know the play and my lines better than I think I do because this neither of my worries materialised at all. I felt that my solo especially went well.

I feel that for the next performance, I will work more on my stage presents and I think this will improve as the performances progress as when I get over the the nerves of the first performance, I am usually okay from here.

Wednesday 7.30

For this show, it was less hectic, meaning we had time to conduct a proper warm up before the show started. I felt this really helped me strengthen my vocal chords for the whole show and really inspired me to push my energy levels up and maintain this standard through out th whole show.

I felt that the 'stay with me' dance, which everyone was included in apart from the narrators Holly and Amber, went particularly well on this show. I think this was because everyone was sure of the movements they were performing. Also, Izzy sang her solo, which accompanies this song, the best she ever has which urges us as the dancers on to performing to th best of our ability. I felt everyone really used focus and extension in this dance, so well that the audience were able to recognise we were intending to be tress in the wind.

Overall, I think this performance went just as well as the first, if not better because we all know now what to expect for the upcoming performances of In To The Woods.

If I were to criticise my perfoamce, I would say that this show not my strongest performance vocally overall. I think this may have been because if had a long day of rehearing and performing and didn't drink enough water or give my vice enough rest. This I will learn from and improve on for our next performance.

I felt in this performance that we needed to make less noise back stage, especially the year 13s, they needed to keep quiet as their noise could be heard on stage and was distracting to us performing.

Thursday 4.30

This matinee performance, I feel went well. I had some friends in the audience which I always feels help me to give my best performance.
I felt that my solo went especially well in this performance, I felt it was the best if performed it to date. I felt this because I used projection, diction and breathe control to sing the song on a professionally level. Also, I thought the part where I am lifted off the ground looked really good as the year 13s got the timing of lifting me correct and putting me down. I also made eye contact with the year 13s and the audience members, occasionally pointing to one of them. I felt this really connected then with what I was singing and the story I was telling through the meaningful lyrics of Giants in the Sky.

I felt this performance as a whole was my strongest out of the four. I think this because I felt i delivered all of my with confidence, expression and meaning.

In this performance, I think one of the performance highlights was scene 5, with the re birth of    Milky-White and the witches transformation. The last part of this scene was something we had all worked really hard on and rehearsed this because at the beginining this scene was not the best. After we had invested all of this time in to it, the end result was fantastic! This scene included feeding objects to Milky-White and i think this looked realistic and definitely comical to the audience, they seemed to very much enjoy this part.

Thursday 7.30

As this was the finale of In to the Woods and the last time we ever performed it, everyone absoluetly put their all in to their parts. Everything feel in to place in this showing, and I think this was because everyone knew full well that we had already completed three performances therefore there was no reason why we couldn't do it again and even so, better than before!

If I were to improve on my performance for this finale showing, I would re do the very opening song, 'I wish'. I felt that this time I sung was my weakest performance of it. I felt this because I missed out on word of the song. Despite the fact it wasn't an essential word in the song, I would like improve on this because i felt for this I could have sung to a higher standard.

I felt that my strongest areas in this performance were sining goodbye to Milky-White and the finale song. I felt that my singing goodbye to the cow was strong as I really projected to out ot the audience with lots of emotion at the thought of loosing my best friend. Finally I though myself and the rest of the cast did really well on the closing song and curtain call. This was because this was the very last time we performed it and everyone was happy and excited to be finished and also full of emotion therefore this was portrayed naturally to the audience.
